In other words the past is the sum of events which we no longer influenced in the present, the future is the sum of the things that can be influenced now but do not yet exist, and the present is the existence of events for the consciousness at every moment.

The wise teacher Oogway the Turtle uses this line in the animated movie Kung Fu Panda, a film about the struggle between a lazy Panda bear who dreams of being a Kung Fu fighter and a Tigress to obtain the Dragon Scroll that contains the knowledge of Infinite Strength.
